The Pinehaven song collection began as an experiment: Could the history, stories, memories, landscapes, and emotions of Pinehaven be transformed into music that actually felt like the mountain itself?
Using original historical research and storytelling from Cabin in the Pines, each song was developed from real people, places, memories, and moments connected to the Pinehaven cabin community near Cuchara, Colorado. Rather than writing traditional “history songs,” the goal was to create cinematic modern country music that captured the emotional atmosphere of Pinehaven, the scent of ponderosa pine after rain, cabin lights glowing beneath the trees, families returning generation after generation, children disappearing into the forest at dusk, and the feeling that the mountain somehow becomes part of those who spend time there.
Many of the lyrics were first shaped through historical articles and oral-history-style storytelling, then adapted into modern roots-country songs using AI-assisted music production tools. The result is an evolving musical soundtrack inspired by the people, wilderness, memory, and mountain spirit that continue to shape Pinehaven today.
